When I saw & Juliet for my birthday last year the first thing I said when the show ended was I wish I’d brought my daughter.
Welllll that wish came true!
This week we saw it together and it was just as much fun as I remembered.
We both loved it and had a great time singing along to our favorite songs (ok I did… as she looked at me all judgy).
It’s incredible to think ONE writer – Max Martin – wrote most of the pop hits from the last three decades!
This beautiful, colorful, super fun show tells the story of what could have been if Juliet had taken a different path in fair Verona, where we lay our scene.
The heartfelt story of little 13 year old Juliet (who defies her dagger’d destiny) unfolds through the recognizable and much loved lyrics of 90s and 2000s hits woven into the dialog and score.
I loved this play and its strong female lead character message. I also loved the fun banter between William Shakespeare and his wife Anne. Even more – I loved that both Romeo (Ben J. Walker) AND Juliet (Maya Boyd) are fellow University of Michigan grads (Go Blue!)!
If you’re looking for a super fun show filled with pop music you love, bright colorful costumes, lots of good photo op stations, and a rollicking good time, & Juliet is for you.
